When I say Dilli Ki Sardi, yes I am not referring to the famous Bollywood number which clichéd ‘Pyaar Teraaaaaa….., Dilli ki sardiiii…..’. I am however definitely referring to the cold surge not just in the temperature which Saddi Dilli had started to experience since around the New Year’s Eve time this last year, I am referring to the brutal cold wave, which has been on an ever incremental trend in the hearts of Dilli wallas which we are vehemently and annoyingly experiencing every other day now a days.
While the brutal and ill-famed gang rape incident of the 16th Dec 2012 is still very alive and fresh, another incident in NOIDA took place yesterday with a 23 year old girl who was returning from work during late evening hours and was abducted on the way to home which was hardly 2 kms from her workplace. The girl was later found dead in a semi-nude state this morning around a kilometer away from her house. Although the family members of the girl tried to file a missing report with the local police station, they coldly refused and further advised the family members to wait and watch since they were affirmative that the girl would return safe and sound pretty soon all by herself.
The cliché ‘Dilli ki Sardi’, makes me ponder at times and much to an extent where I start to doubt the intentions of the lyricist and end up asking myself that, is he seriously referring to the temperature of Delhi, but how could that be, because if he is, then probably he is wrong since love and affection are better associated with warmth. So I guess, the lyricist was foreseeable alright and wasn’t wrong at all since he was able to hit the nail right on its head by innovating a uniquely uncomprehend able cliché ’Dilli Ki Sardi’ which later turned out as the blockbuster item number of its times.
I personally have become quite frightened and uncomfortable of the phenomena ’Dilli Ki Sardi’ of late and have had enough of it. The incidents of rape, molestation and murder are at their all-time high these days. This is pretty clear with the kind of news which while flipping pages of any newspaper; one comes across on every other page. If I may ask, are these rape news given more weightage these days by the newspaper guys since the entire India is concentrating on them or have the crimes increased all of a sudden or has the fear of punishment gone down or have the girls started appealing more suddenly or has the media awakened from the long slumber.
While the questions remain unanswered I would like to call upon participation, suggestions and comments from all Dilliwallas, let’s come together, join hands and make the best use of this e-forum and our community website to shout out loud, make our point and push a strong message forward.
