Perverts in Saddi Dilli have yet again displayed a spot-on example of sheer abhorrence. In a horrendous incident yesterday a girl and a male friend of hers were lured into a private white colored bus by 5 to 6 men who were partying on the move since the bus belonged to one among them. The incident happened near Munirka in South Delhi at around 9:30 pm, which cannot be considered very late in the evening and especially in that corner of the city.
The youths who were probably inebriated (however the police does not say so yet) started teasing the girl as soon as both entered the bus and when her male friend objected, they smashed him with iron rods, stripped him and threw both of them out of the bus, but not before some of the men dragged the girl on the rear of this bus and raped her.
The girl at present is in the hospital and is fighting for her life. The accused are on the run. The media is busy ripping the police and politicians apart. The police are on the hunt for the culprits. The politicians are penitent about the incident and are repentant for the poor girl. And I, shattered from the brutal incident to the core, sit in anticipation to disentangle the entire thing to understand as to who is the real culprit.
Are the girl and boy the real culprits because they could have simply avoided the whole thing by just not being there? Or is police the culprit, by not intercepting the vehicle plying at the odd hour, with an odd number of probably intoxicated passengers. Or shall we hold the general public responsible for not noticing the heinous crime taking place in the moving bus and for not chasing the bus when the couple was thrown out in a semiconscious state.
The problem is that we all lack on the values and ethics front to some extent or the other. As always we have the habit of waking up on the eleventh hour and repenting on whatever had happened. Why does all these things happen in Delhi is not the question, the question is, that why do these things happen at all?? Do the criminals who commit these crimes have a record of doing so earlier or are these guys are some kind of adrenaline junkies who get caught in the spur of the moment and commit such offences.
In both the cases, whether they are history sheeters or first time offenders, obviously, they do not dread the consequences that much and therefore they do not hesitate in committing such inhuman acts of cruelty. As a true Delhiite and being a woman, I would first strongly request the mothers of India to teach their sons how to respect women and secondly, the government of India to make sure the strictest of penalties on people committing such disgusting and shameful deeds.
